Shop with a Cop Event

We’re honored to partner with the Huntington Beach Police Department each year as they, along with the Nobles Foundation, put on the “Shop with a Cop” event. The event was founded three years ago and focuses on assisting with more than 40 student from local schools during the holiday season.

The Event

The students were nominated by the principals from their schools for the excursion on the basis of economic need and school participation. Each child was paired with a police officer and given a $200 budget for shopping, after a breakfast hosted at Woody’s Diner. Some students bought gifts for Christmas while others bought basic essentials that they, and their family members, could not afford. Once students had made their selections, the group decorated cookies and visited Santa, retired officer Jeff Huss, and “his elf”, Santa Fe firefighter Paul Garcia. Local volunteers wrapped the gifts for Christmas morning on behalf of the students. This allowed them to enjoy the spirit of giving that comes with the holiday.

BEST-VIP has had the privilege of chauffeuring both the students and police officers involved each year. We continue to be inspired by all who participate from the schools to the volunteers. The stories behind each student and their determination is a testament in itself.
