It’s the most wonderful time of the year! No, not Christmas. It is festival season! And if you’re from California, you are more than aware of the many festivals that kick off this month and lead throughout the summer, offering sunshine, good music, better food and, hopefully, great company.
The traditional kickoff to the summer festival season is dominated by Coachella. The glitz and glamour of Los Angeles migrates east to the Indio Desert for back to back weekends of the biggest names in music. What started as a small electronic festival in the desert has transformed into a cultural touchstone for the festival season. Hosting artists like Beyonce, The Weeknd, Eminem, SZA, Portugal the Man, AC/DC and more, Coachella has catapulted to be a beacon for music aficionados, celebrities and social media influencers worldwide.
Curated for country music enthusiasts, Stagecoach Festival brings a little country flair to California. With attendances of up to 75,000 fans, Stagecoach is easily one of the biggest country music festivals in the world. The wide span of seasoned pros, like this year’s headliners Florida Georgia Line, Keith Urban and Tim McGraw, mixed with up and coming artists showcased in the festival’s lineup brings attendees of all ages to the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California.
Kicked off in 2013, wine meets music when artists from around the world descend on Napa Valley just North of San Francisco for Bottlerock. The internationally renowned wine region loosens up during this Memorial Day Weekend festival, putting on one of the best West Coast lineups of the season. This years artists include Bruno Mars, Muse, The Chainsmokers, Halsey, and Snoop Dogg, just to name a few. Being in Napa Valley, it would come as no surprise that BottleRock will amaze you with the wealth of incredible wines from some of the most heralded producers in the world.
Stationed in shaded oaks next to the iconic Rose Bowl Stadium, Arroyo Seco Weekend pairs LA music and food enthusiasts together for two days. Not only is the weekend stacked with multi-generational headliners like Robert Plant, Jack White and the Kings of Leon – Arroyo Seco also teams up with well-known local culinary brands and restaurants to bring an exclusive experience to attendees.
Kaboo, the latest entry in the Southern California music festival scene, spends the weekend at the Del Mar fairgrounds just North of San Diego. Offering a different variety than other festivals, Kaboo is geared towards a more mature crowd with a wide range of artists from across the decades. There is also a strong presence of delectable food and craft cocktails along with art from local contemporaries and late-night dance parties.
